Ready Or Not

It may seem a bit early to be talking about publishing a book as I only recently started considering the possibility of writing one. But in the last several weeks, I have been gathering up my notes and poring over my blog posts from the past few years. I have spent much of my free time putting it all together and trying as best I could to make it something coherent and cohesive. Time will tell if I have succeeded.

I never intended to write a novel. That’s not something I’m thinking will ever be on my to-do list. For this book, I instead decided upon a collection of my thoughts and personal experiences. I didn’t want to rush into things, but I also felt like for a first try, this was about as ready as I wanted it to be. So, 27,000 words and hours and hours of editing and proofreading later, I finished my first book. The size of this book may not sound like much, but I feel it’s sufficient for what my goals were. I may try again in the future to write another, but I’m going to wait a bit to see how this one turns out. I don’t care one bit about making money. I’d be more than happy if I just got people to read it.

So as of 11:30pm on 12/21/18, my book is live on the kindle e-store. I was going to set up the option for paperback copies, but for now it is a kindle exclusive download. I know that may limit the amount of potential readers, but it’s a format I am comfortable with. I may offer paperback copies later on, but only if there’s some interest in that. For now, it is available for $2.99 here on kindle or if you are a kindle unlimited member, you can read it for free. It is called “Returning the Gift of Salvation: How I Went From Being a Soldier of God to a Conscientious Objector of Religion”ย

I don’t expect much to come of this but I am happy to have accomplished something new. Who knows, I may just get the itch to do more or even venture into some fiction writing. If any of you do read it, don’t hesitate to let me know what you think. If you hate it, let me know why and I’ll try to work on that in the future. If you like it, let me know that too, preferably through feedback on kindle.

Thanks for all of your support here on WordPress and thanks for all of you who encouraged me to try this. I’m nervous and excited. I’m also terrified and embarrassed. It’s hard to explain, but introverts tend to have a hard time putting themselves out there. I am no different. Thanks again.my book

  1. Wow! That was FAST!! Of course, you did have existing material to work with so that helped.

I’m looking forward to reading it although my reading time is pretty limited. I’m still working on a book that Robert (Vella) wrote! I think it’s been over 6 months since I downloaded it. *sigh* What I’ve read is really good, but …

It’s my fault … I spend way too much time reading (and writing) blogs, along with adding my comments, and by the end of the day, I’m ready to put my brain in neutral.

In any case … I definitely plan on buying it and will provide feedback — which I feel quite certain will be positive. ๐Ÿ˜

  2. I apologize to anyone ( who reads this book ) about a couple of missed typos. The words aren’t misspelled but because of last minute changes, the wrong words are there. It’s my first attempt by myself but I still should have paid a bit more attention. For example, in the beginning of the book, I originally had “an author” but changed author to”writer.” I somehow didn’t change “an” to “a” and I feel a bit foolish. I’ll try to fix it and reupload it again when I get home but anyone reading it now will see that, plus a “you” somewhere that should be a “your”. I’ll do better next time. I promise. ๐Ÿ™‚

      1. I read it a hundred times myself, but if I missed something once, I’m probably going to miss it the next 99 times. I’ll update it tonight and hopefully it’ll be good to go then. They’re minor errors but major disappointments to me.

      2. I don’t know if you’ve ever read the reviews for my book, but a recent one (which wasn’t very positive) pointed out that a scripture I had provided to “prove my point” didn’t even exist! I thought to myself … no way! I checked everything! But he was right.

I have no idea what happened, but it’s just an example how easily things can get overlooked if you’re the only one doing the “looking.” ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. I have updated my eBook on Kindle. The typos (at least the known ones) have been fixed. It may take 72 hours for the changes to take effect. If anyone wanted to order this book but have not done so yet, it’d probably be best to wait a couple of days to get the updated and corrected version. Thanks.

    1. Thanks Neil. It’s not a very big book, but it’s not a bad start. Not sure if I’ll write another, but I just might. I do keep finding that I have a lot to say…even if no one wants to hear it. ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. Praying for the return of relationship with Christ. I’m so very sorry religion destroyed that relationship with our Lord.
