Ready Or Not

It may seem a bit early to be talking about publishing a book as I only recently started considering the possibility of writing one. But in the last several weeks, I have been gathering up my notes and poring over my blog posts from the past few years. I have spent much of my free time putting it all together and trying as best I could to make it something coherent and cohesive. Time will tell if I have succeeded.

I never intended to write a novel. That’s not something I’m thinking will ever be on my to-do list. For this book, I instead decided upon a collection of my thoughts and personal experiences. I didn’t want to rush into things, but I also felt like for a first try, this was about as ready as I wanted it to be. So, 27,000 words and hours and hours of editing and proofreading later, I finished my first book. The size of this book may not sound like much, but I feel it’s sufficient for what my goals were. I may try again in the future to write another, but I’m going to wait a bit to see how this one turns out. I don’t care one bit about making money. I’d be more than happy if I just got people to read it.

So as of 11:30pm on 12/21/18, my book is live on the kindle e-store. I was going to set up the option for paperback copies, but for now it is a kindle exclusive download. I know that may limit the amount of potential readers, but it’s a format I am comfortable with. I may offer paperback copies later on, but only if there’s some interest in that. For now, it is available for $2.99 here on kindle or if you are a kindle unlimited member, you can read it for free. It is called “Returning the Gift of Salvation: How I Went From Being a Soldier of God to a Conscientious Objector of Religion” 

I don’t expect much to come of this but I am happy to have accomplished something new. Who knows, I may just get the itch to do more or even venture into some fiction writing. If any of you do read it, don’t hesitate to let me know what you think. If you hate it, let me know why and I’ll try to work on that in the future. If you like it, let me know that too, preferably through feedback on kindle.
