Just A Frog

One of the larger bullfrogs we have in our pond. Finally able to get close enough to get a fairly decent photo. Taken 7/3/18

    1. My mother’s favorite animal was the frog. Not sure why she loved them as much as she did, but we had a house full of frog-related collectibles in my house growing up.

    1. We’ve got 5 of these ( that I know of ) that live in our pond. We get lots of toads too. I’m still just a kid and I love catching them…and then chasing my kids around with them. 🙂

      1. Do you have a pond in your yard? We have a pond a few blocks away. I like the toads. They hang out in our damp gutters and scare the crap out of me when I am pulling weeds lol

      2. I have a koi pond I put in a few years ago. It’s maybe 1000 gallons or so. We put a bunch of bullfrog tadpoles in last year that grew into frogs. 5 came back this year.

      3. Cool family? Sure, let’s go with that. 🙂

The fish don’t die…as long as our heater stays working. The heater doesn’t keep the pond warm, but it does keep a hole open around the heater for gases to escape. The fish slow down their movements and stop eating due to the cold, but they keep on swimming all winter long. We had a heater die last winter and by the time I noticed that the pond had iced over, we had lost a big fish. So now I’m paranoid and check it regularly.

I took a few photos of our pond for a post a little while back. They’re not the greatest, but you get the idea of what it looks like. Here’s a link to that post if you are interested:
